Speaking of the sea…

An illustration from Edward Lear's "The Owl and the Pussycat," 1871.

I’ve got one more maritime themed entry to share. All winter long we’ve been busy around building not one, not two, but three fantastic little sailing boats designed by the phenomenally talented Eric Blake with a big knot of friends, in anticipation of summer. Late nights. Loud music. So much fun.

Someone pointed out recently that the boats look a whole lot like those sailed by Edward Lear’s famous Owl and Pussycat, who went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat in 1871. What could be better?

Of course, our project doesn’t really have anything to do with Encyclopedia of the Exquisite, though I promise the boats will be plenty elegant. Still, if you’ve read this far, we probably share a certain sensibility and I bet you’ll get a kick out of the little boat project.
