Deepest, Darkest Night
Granted, this is not my usual sort of post—but this is not your usual musical collaboration. Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and David Lynch have teamed up to put out the album Dark Night of the Soul, which was just released days ago. The album boasts guest stars including The Shins’ James Mercer, Frank Black of the Pixies, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, the recently deceased Vic Chestnutt, and even Iggy Pop. David Lynch also sings on a couple tracks (he has a nice, sweet voice, actually), though his biggest contribution was in creating a series of photographs to illustrate the album’s dark themes.
You can preview the ENTIRE album through this link to NPR, here. Thanks to Nico for pointing this out. I was waiting for this album release forever.
